New York-Taylor Swift’s international musical dominance continues as it was recently revealed that the Bad Blood singer was the highest earning musician in 2015 - despite selling less records than comeback Queen Adele.
The Shake It Off hitmaker pulled in most of her cash from her highly successful 1989 World Tour which gave her a staggering $61.7million (£42.2million). This went a long way to contributing to her overall total of a mammoth $73.5million (£50.8million) for last year.
Billboard collated the official figures and said that Swify’s reign on the top spot showed how important touring had become to musicians instead of just selling music. The American starlet - who has been dating Scottish DJ Calvin Harris for over a year - left her competitors in the shade, earning over twice the amount as her nearest rival,
US country star Kenny Chesney who earned a comparatively paltry $39.8million (£27.6million).
Taylor beat out big band names including The Rolling Stones and One Direction and pushed Adele into ninth place, who earned only $16.3million (£11.2million), despite selling the most albums throughout the year.
However, Billboard used tours for US sales only and did not include money earned from any sponsorship deals the musicians have so the real figure for all of the top ten artists could be much higher.
Other Brits In the list included Elton John in 15th place and Ed Sheeran in 17th.
