ISLAMABAD -  Deciding to dig his heels in, Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday announced that he would not run away from the trial in corruption cases against him and would come out victorious.

Before departing for his Murree residence after chairing party meeting at the Punjab House, the ousted prime minister made it loud and clear that he would fight out the corruption cases against him in the court of law and expressed his optimism that he would come out victorious.

Besides discussing the future strategy of the party to handle things both at the legal and the political fronts, former premier Nawaz Sharif held one-on-one meeting with Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and discussed with him the constitutional issues facing the government including delimitation of constituencies.

Sharif said that no one could break his bond with the people of Pakistan. He said that even the seven years forced exile could not detach him from the masses and he would continue working for the welfare of the people of Pakistan.

Sharif said that he was still at a loss to understand why he was ousted as corruption of not even a single penny was proved against him.  His removal form premiership has derailed the country from the track of progress and rapid development, he said.

Sharif announced that he would go to the court of the people and would tell them the losses the country had been facing due to his unrealistic ouster from power, and hoped that the people of Pakistan would stand with him in this time of trial like they had in the past.

He said that the PML-N always respected the law and the constitution and that was the reason they were facing the courts despite reservations on the whole exercise.

Sharif quickly added, “we are confident to come out victorious from all this because we have done nothing wrong.”

In a meeting with the party leaders and some leaders of coalition parties at the Punjab House, key issues facing the country including the hiccups in the way of legislation on delimitation of constituencies came under discussion.

The party’s plan of mass-contact campaign and intra-party issues also came under discussion at the meeting.

It was decided that the PML-N would come out with full might to counter the negative propaganda being launched against the party and its leadership.

Federal Minister Mir Hasil Bazenjo and former Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik also met Nawaz Sharif and inquired about his ailing wife Kulsoom Nawaz.

Meanwhile, ex-PM also met state ministers Junaid Anwar, Arshad Laghari and Senator Saud Majeed.
