Paris donates money, supplies to Mexico

LOS ANGELES-Paris Hilton has donated enough money to build seven new homes in Mexico after the country was struck by an earthquake in September.

The 36-year-old businesswoman visited the borough of Xochimilco in Mexico City on Monday where she donated blankets, pillows, shoes, clothes, food and toys to the families who saw their homes destroyed when the devastating earthquake shook the country earlier this year. Paris also spoke with a gathered crowd of people to whom she sent her love and support in the wake of the natural disaster, before donating an unspecified sum of money which will reportedly see seven new homes built in the area to replace those destroyed in the quake.

According to the Daily Mail newspaper, Paris said: ‘’I feel that this is my second home, I’ve been coming to Mexico all my life. I love the people, I think they are all beautiful, they have great hearts, they are beautiful inside and out, they are very genuine and incredible.’’ Around 370 people lost their lives in the earthquake, whilst a further 6,000 were injured, and Paris revealed she was ‘’devastated’’ and ‘’heartbroken’’ by the news.

She continued: ‘’I’m sorry for what happened on that horrible September 19, the day of the earthquake. My heart is with all of you and I want you to know that I think of you, I love you and that is why I came to support you today. ‘’When I heard what happened with the earthquake my heart broke, I was devastated.’’ The DJ and former reality star also insisted she will make further visits to the capital city in the future, and will ‘’do something to give back’’ each time she does.

She said: ‘’I know there are people who are suffering and going through hard times, so every time I return I will do something to give back.

‘’I am here to support these people. They have lost their homes, all of their belongings and family members. Everything has been taken away. It’s so important to help.’’
