Chancellor CIIT urged to take notice of irregularities

Islamabad - Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association on Friday urged the chancellor COMSATS Institute of Information Technology to take notice of irregularities in the institute.

In a statement issued, FAPUASA Central President Dr Kaleemullah Barech said that years-long services of employees and faculty at CIIT were being terminated without any notice by the adhoc administration where some top management people are even involved in getting salary from three different organisations.

He said important decisions of appointments at senior positions and terminations are being made in violation of Supreme Court decisions by the senior management.

Dr Shehzad Ashraf said that the academic freedom and freedom of expression have been deliberately curtailed to suppress the voices of faculty who played an important role in making CIIT as reputed organisation.

They appealed to the Chancellor, President of the country to take immediate notice of situation and action against the senior management.

The CIIT had started downsising in the university and more than one hundred employees were terminated in four months.

The university administration had said that 116 employees were relieved of their duties from different campuses after completing their contract duration.
