LAHORE - Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif Friday chaired a meeting on arrangements for seven-day celebrations of Quaid Day with national enthusiasm.
Addressing the meeting, the CM said that the celebrations will be held in every district and special programmes will be arranged to pay homage to Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
By marking the day, the new generation will be sensitised about the struggle and vision of Jinnah, Shehbaz said, adding that the Punjab government was perusing Jinnah’s vision. Provincial Ministers Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman, Rana Mashhood Ahmed and senior officials attended the meeting.
“On the birthday of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the nation, particularly the people of Punjab, will be gifted in shape of completion of first phase of this project,” he told the media during his visit to under-construction Pakistan Kidney and Liver Transplant Institute (PKLI).
The CM said that his team was working hard to complete the first phase in time. About the Supreme Court judgment on Orange Line, he said his government would follow the court directives.
However he took a swipe at PTI for, what he called, hinder such projects by moving courts, saying: “The dirty politics of enmity to public development has damaged Pakistan. This project carries multiple benefits but the ultra-rich group of PTI, which moves on luxury cars and visit Europe along with their pet dogs, is oblivious of public problems.
“Though there are some other parties responsible for 22-month delay in this project, but PTI is the main culprit. The PTI has backstabbed the nation like a coward. Everybody knows that Waleed Iqbal of the PTI submitted an application to stop this project and then withdrew it. This group has gone for blocking development projects through sit-in and lockdown, he said.
