LAHORE - Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said the government is implementing a comprehensive programme for public welfare and raising their living standards .
“Providing with basic facilities to the common persons is the top priority of the government,” the CM said in his video address to a meeting at the Civil Secretariat yesterday. The meeting reviewed work on public welfare project.
Shahbaz said billion of rupees are being spent on urban and rural development while transparency in the execution of uplift schemes is being ensured. He said that water supply, repair and rehabilitation of rural roads as well as energy projects will be completed on time.
He said Punjab Educational Endowment Fund, Apna Rozgar Scheme, interest-free loans, transport projects, establishment of new hospitals besides a number of welfare projects have been completed and a large number of people are benefitting from these projects.
He said that under the policy of balanced development, equal attention is being paid to the uplift of cities as well as rural areas. He said development schemes are being completed on a priority basis in backward areas. Finance Minister Dr Ayesha Ghaus Pasha, Chief Secretary Khizar Hayat Gondal, secretaries and senior officers attended meeting.
In a meeting with his party legislators, the Chief Minister said the PML-N government was working on economic development.
Billions of rupees has been allocated to bring about so social and economic uplift in the life of the common people while mega projects to fix power problem, providing best health, education and transportation facilities were under way.
Shahbaz urged public representatives to maintain a close contact with the people and resolve their problems. He said selfless service to the people is the mission of the government. He said in the construction of mega projects in the energy sector the government has introduced new trend of saving money, and completing projects with standard and transparency. He said that the PML-N government is free from corruption.
