We should tap China pontential: Dr Iqrar

UAF Vice Chancellor Dr Iqrar Ahmad stressed the need for learning from China experiences in agriculture and economic development.
Addressed the Chinese New Year celebrations at a local Chinese restaurant on Monday, Dr Iqrar said that China-Pakistan are enjoying deep and time-tested relations that are more strengthened by the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. He said that Chinese universities are proving their mettle globally in every field and that “we must learn from these experiences.”
The ceremony was held under the auspices of UAF Confucius Institute. The Chinese New Year date is different every year because the Chinese follow a calendar style based on lunar cycles.
He said that UAF believes in knowledge diversification and 20 UAF faculty members had completed their PhDs from China and several are perusing their degrees there. He said that in collaboration with China, 50 scholarships would be offered to UAF students every year. He said that owing to CPEC, the country would witness an economic turnaround that would help ensure sustainable development and prosperity in the country.
Dr Iqrar said that Confucius Institute established at the UAF is offering Chinese language and cooking courses are the steps toward bringing the people of both countries further closer.
He said that CI would open up new opportunities to the students to prepare themselves for higher studies in Chinese Universities.
Chinese Xinjiang Agriculture University Dean Yang Zhijiang; UAF Dr Ashfaq Chatha; and Dr Fahad Rasool and other notables also spoke. The students also enthralled the audience with the Chinese folk songs and performances.
