SIALKOT - Arfa Karim’s mother Sameena Amjad has announced that the Arfa Karim Foundation would provide resources for upbringing of deserving but intelligent children in the country.
She stated this while addressing the participants of a seminar held at the Sialkot Campus of University of Gujrat in connection with the International Women’s Day. She vowed to step up Arfa’s incomplete mission of promoting education and ensuring the easy access of the deserving students to the higher education. She said that the doors of Arfa Karim Foundation were open to all the deserving students in Pakistan.
Sameena Amjad said that she was proud of being the mother of Arfa Karim and she saw Arfa in every brilliant student. She said that the Foundation would soon start education promotional projects in active collaboration with UoG to reach every deserving student. Marking the importance of the International Women Day, she stressed a need for promotion of women’s education, terming it the basic right of women. Prominent poetesses and novelists Kishwar Naheed and Fatima Hassan, critic Satiya Pal Anand from the US and UoG Director Dr Anwar Ahmed also spoke on the occasion.
UPLIFT FUNDS: Punjab government has allocated special development funds of Rs224 million for completion of 90 development schemes in Gujranwala Division. Officials said that these development schemes were chalked out by the local elected representatives.
They revealed that three special monitoring teams will ensure timely completion of these schemes. They will also ensure the use of quality and standard material in the construction of these new schemes, they said.
