LAHORE - Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has directed the departments concerned to avoid causing difficulties to the people while executing development projects in Lahore.
Addressing a meeting of the heads of various public departments of the districts on Saturday the prime minister said provision of modern day civic amenities to the people is a priority of the government for which a number of development schemes and projects have been initiated.
However, he asked the departmental heads to take into account difficulties which the people can face when they are completing their projects in the city and devise such mechanisms to ensure no trouble to the citizens travelling through the sites of development works.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said the government is striving hard to make the country and the people economically sound and prosperous. He said he believes that the country will be strong when the people are prosperous and well off.
The prime minister said the people had voted his party to power therefore their mission is nothing but economic and social betterment of the masses. He maintained that good time is fast approaching when the country would be strong and the people would get relief and feel comfort in every aspect of the national life.
The prime minister on the occasion was also briefed on the Ring Road extension project, flyover at Azadi Chowk, housing schemes for the low income people, clean water projects and other development schemes.
50PC SHARE IN LOAN SCHEME FOR WOMEN: NAWAZ
APP adds: Prime Minister, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Saturday said allocation of 50 percent share for women in the Youth Loan Scheme reflects the government's trust and commitment to provide them maximum opportunities.
He was talking to APP at his Raiwind residence on Saturday.
He said the PML-N government had taken marvellous steps for welfare and progress of women in society so that they could play their effective role in the prosperity of the country.
He said it was our strong belief that the country could not make progress without providing equal opportunities to women which were half part of society.
The Prime Minister said Pakistani women had proved their mettle in all walks of life and served the nation at par with men.
"From education to armed forces, the women are serving the nation and proving that they are equally strong and able to serve the country," he added.
Nawaz Sharif said his government was working hard for the cause of women.
He expressed confidence that the women would set up their businesses after availing loans from the PM Youth Scheme.
The scheme would appear as a catalyst of change in lives of people specially the women, he added.
