HAFIZABAD-The district police officer of Hafizabad has said that though the policemen remain on duty round-the-clock, they have failed to restore their image in the eyes of the public.
Addressing an open court, the DPO urged the public to help eliminate social evils from the society to create better environment for the populace. He said that policemen should be honest and perform their duties with commitment to revive confidence among the masses.
DPO Muhammad Haroon Joyia said that social evils cannot be eliminated by force and it was imperative for the people to keep a vigilant eye on criminals. He said that the police were determined to prevent crimes and maintain peaceful atmosphere in the district. He further told the visitors that Tahafuz committees consisting of persons of impeccable character would be established in every village and locality for maintaining peaceful conditions and to prevent crimes.
He said that he would allow one-day leave in a week to every policeman so that they could perform their duties efficiently. However, he called upon the policemen to accelerate the campaign to nab the proclaimed offenders and anti-social elements to create sense of security among the public.
On other side, DSP Traffic Police Anjumul Saqib Ghumman warned the transporters and other vehicle owners to remove additional lights, pressure horns from their vehicles otherwise stern action would taken against the violators.
He said that the district traffic police have launched special campaign during April and removed 125 pressure horns, additional lights from 135 vehicles, 50 tape recorders from vans and removed additional seats from 110 vehicles. They also imposed fine of thousands of rupees. He said that the campaign would continue during May and June.
Man held with contraband: The Sukheke Police recovered 1.5 kg of charas from a vehicle near Kot Sarwar interchange and arrested an accused on Sunday. The police intercepted the vehicle coming from KPK and recovered the contraband hidden under seats of the vehicle.
The police arrested one accused identified as Namooss Khan, a resident of Charsada and registered a case against him.
Meanwhile, the police arrested Riasat Ali, son of Muhammad Inayat of Kaseesay village and e recovered five litres of liquor from his possession.
