Understaffed FIA faces troubles

SIALKOT-There is only one police station of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to redress the grievances of the people of Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad and Gujranwala districts.
The FIA police station takes action against the human traffickers, their agents, sub-agents, travel agents, bank and other defaulters. There are only four inspectors and four sub-inspectors to investigate the cases belonging to Gujranwala Division due to which the pendency of the cases is rising day by day.
FIA officials said that daily 40 to 50 people visit the FIA police station daily and they have to wait for months for their turn to get their cases registered. After the months-long wait, when the petitioners reach the FIA police station in Gujranwala they are given new dates to come again.
FIA Gujranwala Deputy Director Khalid Anees said that the FIA Circle Gujranwala was the biggest circle across Pakistan. It has only eight investigation officers. He added that this circle was facing shortage of the officials and other staff due to which the FIA was facing multiple difficulties in arresting accused.
