Cops booked as 3 escape from lockup

Three cops were booked and arrested as the same number of prisoners alleged to be dangerous criminals managed to escape from the police custody, after breaking the lockup of Begowala police station in Sambrial tehsil in the wee hours of Tuesday.
The police had arrested Muzammal Shehzad, Atif, residents of Gakhar Mandi, and Qaiser of Roypur-Uggoki on September 14, 2013  in a dacoity case registered against them Under Section 382 PPC. At about 4:30am during power loadshedding, the accused cut the bars of the lockups and managed to escape. The police have registered a case against the accused.
Meanwhile, on the order of Sialkot DPO Muhammad Gohar Nafees, the police have registered a case (No. 248/2013) against its accused Muharrar Khalid Naseem, Naib Muharrar Muhammad Saleem and constable Ghulam Sarwar Under Sections 155-C, 223 and 224 PPC for their negligence. Police have arrested the policemen and sent them behind bars.
The DPO has also formulated special police teams which were raiding various places to ensure early re-arrest of the accused. Recently, the police station was shifted to a rented building in village Jhumat-Begowala as the police station’s old building was declared dangerous.
