Teen trader ends life
LAHORE - A teen trader committed suicide at his house in Sabzazar, police said on Tuesday. The body was hanging from the ceiling fan with a wire tied to his neck as police reached the spot. The police moved the body to morgue for autopsy.
His family told the police that Muhammad Adeel, a resident of Faizpur, went into his bedroom late Monday night and committed suicide. The boy was dealing in scrap. According a family member, Adeel had been facing financial issues for a few days. However, police said his marriage proposal was also rejected.
Woman hit by bullet
A woman sustained serious bullet wounds when two rival groups clashed in the Harbanspura police limits. Haleema Bibi, was admitted to hospital in critical condition.  A police officer said that some gunmen from Abdul Rehman and Hafiz Ikram groups exchanged gunfire in Gulshan Park. No arrest was made though a case was registered.

Literature festival for kids from 30th
LAHORE - The two-day seventh Children Literature Festival (CLF) will be held at Children Library Complex from October 30.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, provincial head of Oxford University Press Tariq Haq, Dr Arifa Syeda, Dr Bela Raza Jamil and others said that the festival would be held under the aegis of Idara Taleem-o-Aaghi, Open Society Foundation and Oxford University Press. They informed the media that it was expected that about 25,000 would participate in the festival. They said the festival was aimed at creating interest about education among the children.
The festival will feature book fair, competition of calligraphy, poetry contests, music and debate competitions.

Seminar on Eid
LAHORE - The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) organised an awareness seminar about Eidul Azha at Alhamra Hall-III which was presided over by LWMC Chairman Khawaja Ahamd Hassaan.
Religious scholars;  Maulana Raghib Naeemi, Dr Abdul Ghafoor Rashid, Allama Intkhab Noori, Haider Ali Mirza, Maulana Mujeeb u Rahman Shami and environment experts Dr Sajjad Haider  and Ms Saleha Munir including MD LWMC Waseem Ajmal Chaudhary spoke on the importance of sanitation and role of citizens, as well as respective departments. Students from various educational institutes attended this seminar.
Addressing the seminar, Khawaja Ahmad Hassan said that company’s sincere efforts in collaborating with Turkish companies for turning Lahore into worlds one of the cleanest cities would soon bear fruit.
Maulana Raghib Naeemi said that cleanliness is next to godliness and we should realise that the citizens and the company both have role in keeping cleanliness. Teachings of Islam should be followed in true spirit, he added.
Dr Abdul Shakoor (Nazim Talimat, Markazi Jamiat-e-Ehl-e-Hadees Pakistan) said that our lame attitude towards cleanliness was beyond understanding when there was no Islam without personal and collective hygiene. Allama Intikhab Noori stressed the need for training and character building of not only sanitation staff but also of citizens.
Haider Ali Mirza, Allama Mujeeb u Rahman Shami and Dr Sajjad Haider also spoke on the occasion.      

Reshuffle
LAHORE - Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khan Baig on Tuesday ordered the transfers and postings of following five police officers.
According to a police spokesperson, Capt (r) Liaqat Ali Malik, Gujranwala Additional-SP (City Division) was transferred and posted as Lahore SP Security-II (Security Division) whereas Tariq Mahmood was transferred and closed to the central police office.
Similarly, Bahawalpur SDPO (City Circle) Aziz Ullah was transferred and posted as SDPO Yazman Circle. Punjab DSP (Investigation Branch) Amjad Mehmood Qureshi was transferred and posted as Kasur DSP (Organized Crime) and Munir Ahmad, Lahore DSP Mobiles cantonment was transferred and posted as Lahore DSP Security Division-IX (96-H, Model Town) against existing vacancies.
