LAHORE - Issuing yet another warning to hold country-wide march over the issue of rigging , PTI chairman, Imran Khan said, “We have accepted the election results and not rigging .” He said if they are not provided justice, they would launch massive campaign against the May 11 election rigging .
Talking to media during a ceremony held at his residence to congratulate the newly-elected party MPA in Faisalabad by-polls, Imran asked the Chief Justice of Pakistan to look into the matter of electoral rigging . PTI Punjab president, Ejaz Chaudhry, general secretary, Dr Yasmin Rashid, Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed and Jahangir Tareen were also present on this occasion.
The PTI chairman asked the CJP to set a precedent for other constituencies by probing into the rigging issue of four constituencies identified by the PTI . He said that nation has high hopes on the Supreme Court for justice, as the real democracy could not be achieved without fair elections.
Imran said that the PTI candidate’s victory in the by-poll has established the fact the PML-N has been making wrong claims of its popularity among the masses. He said the government has been losing ground by not materialising its promises made during the general election campaign.
He remarked it seemed that the PML-N and PPP had some secret deal, as the government was least bothered to even initiate the process for bringing back Rs6 billion lying in foreign banks. He said there are reports that Asif Zardari’s sister, Faryal Talpur is being elevated as the Public Accounts Committee chairman and would take all measures to cover the corruption made during last five years. He said despite the fact that the PTI was a major opposition party, the government didn’t bother to consult it over the appointment of NAB chairman.
The PTI government would appoint NAB’s chief in KPK who could question even the chief minister on any bad deal. He said the NADRA’s verification in NA-258, Karachi is enough evidence of massive rigging in which only 6,000 votes proved true and thousands found bogus. He added that the PTI was only demanding proper investigation into rigging in the best interest of democracy.
Imran said the election tribunal should accelerate the proceedings, as 400 petitions are pending in this connection and 64 were filed by the PTI . The PTI chairman said the KPK government would introduce biometric and electronic voting system in the LG elections.
Responding to a query about not joining Dr Tahirul Qadri’s sit-in before the May 11 elections, he said that it was a mistake on the part of the PTI , as Qadri was true in his apprehensions.
