The Supreme Court on Wednesday accepted bail plea of former President Pervez Musharraf in Akbar Bugti murder case.
A three-member bench of apex court headed by Justice Nasirul Mulk and comprising Justice Sarmad Jalal Usmani and Justice Musheer Alam, heard the case seeking release of Pervez Musharraf on bail .
Musharraf 's lawyer, Ibrahim Satti told the court that his client was on judicial remand for the last six and half months. He further said that some 45 life threats have been given to Pervez Musharraf who has been put under house arrest at his Chak Shahzad farmhouse.
The court directed the former President to submit two surety bonds of one million rupees each with Deputy Registrar of the apex court.
On September 27, the SC had refused to grant bail to Musharraf in this case. Akbar Bugti was killed in 2006 in a military operation in Balochistan and a case was registered later in 2009 against Musharraf .
The Balochistan High Court (BHC) had turned down the former army chief’s bail plea in the Bugti murder case after which the case was brought to the Supreme Court.
Nawab Akbar Bugti was a veteran Baloch nationalist leader and former chief minister of Balochistan.
Musharraf was president and army chief in 2006 when Bugti was killed.
