2 PPP men killed in ‘Urban Waziristan’


KARACHI - Political killing claimed two more lives of Pakistan People’s Party workers on Monday.
An activist of PPP was shot dead while other injured at Abul Hassan Isphahani Road within the jurisdiction of Mobina Town police station.
The incident took place at Abul Hassan Isphahani Road where two armed motorcyclists came and sprayed bullets on a yellow cab taxi (PL-2071). Resultantly two men namely 28-year-old Younis Pathan and Zait Khan, 25, received multiple bullet injuries.
Police shifted them to a private hospital, where Younis succumbed to injuries. SHO Idrees Bangash said that victim was the resident of Metroville and father of three children.
Police sources said that victim was an active worker of PPP PS-126 district Malir. At the time of the incident, he was going home with his friend after attending Soyem of PSF worker Saeed Hassan who was killed in Mobina Town two days ago.
The victim hailed from Peshawar and was working with his father in transport business.
Tension engulfed the Scouts Colony, Metroville and its surrounding areas after spreading the murder news of PPP worker. No case was registered till filing of the report.
Another PPP activist was shot dead in his school in Baldia Town within the limits of Saeedabad police station. The incident took place at BK English Grammar School situated at Baldia sector 9, A-1 Saeedabad where 35-year-old Syed Mukhtiar Shah was sitting at his office when at least three armed culprits reached on two motorcycles in front of the school when two armed culprits barged into his office and sprayed bullets on him. He received six bullets and died on the spot. After committing the crime, culprits managed to flee from the scene. Soon after getting the information police rushed to the scene and shifted the body to Civil Hospital Karachi for medicolegal formalities.
Inquiry Officer SI Munir said victim was the school owner and victim brother Fayyaz given statement to police that gunmen barged into the school and shot him dead.
He was an active worker of the PPP and former activist of Sunni Tehreek, adding that the reason of murder is yet to be ascertained. The victim hailed from Abbottabad. Later, police handed over the body to heirs. Tension engulfed the surrounding area of Baldia and no case was registered till filing of the report.
Meanwhile, Mominabad Police registered an FIR No 121/12 against eight unidentified men on the complaint of Adnan, younger brother of Farhan alias Guddu who was killed on Friday along with Nafees Siddiqui and Umer Hayat in Urdu Chowk Orangi Town Mominabad.
DSP Tariq Malik said an FIR was registered after more than 48 hours of the incident and initially PPP activists wanted to nominate some persons in that case but later his brother got registered a case against unidentified men.
He said three PPP activists were killed on Friday when they were of them were sitting in a shop in Urdu Chowk, Orangi Town. Some armed men came and opened fire on them. Three of them died on the spot while Rana Faraz received bullet injuries.
