Islamabad- Speakers at an international conference on Seerat-un-Nabi held here at Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) called for establishing a society based on Islamic concept of social justice.

Strictly adhering to Sunnat-e-Rasool is the only way out to overcome present-day socio-economic problems, they said while addressing the inaugural session of the conference that was presided over by the Leader of the House in the Senate, Senator Raja Zafarul Haq and addressed by Minister of State for Education Engr Balighur Rehman and Vice Chancellor AIOU Prof Dr Shahid Siddiqui.

The two-day conference , arranged by the University’s department of

Hadith and Seerah were participated by large number Muslim scholars from home and abroad.

The foreign participants were from Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Aljazair, Kosovo, Sudan, Brunei and India. At the outset of the conference , special prayer was offered for those who became victims of tragic planes crash.

The speakers emphasized that the Muslims should seek aspirations and guidance from the life and teaching of the Holy Prophet (Peace be Upon Him) to have true happiness and successful life.

Dr Shahid Siddiqui announced that on the occasion that the International conference will be a annual feature to sensitize and motivate people to follow-Seerat-un-Nabi in its true spirit. A special conference will also be arranged to focus on Hadith and their importance. Besides this, an annual award will be given on best Seerat book. 

He said the University will continue to promote research-based study on issues relating to the society’s overall welfare. A special journal on Islamic Studies will be published soon. Students of MA, M.Phil and PhD will be given an option to do specialized study on Seerat , he added.

Raja Zafar Haq in his presidential address said that the Muslim World today was confronted with various problems and challenges that could only addressed by reviving Seerat-un-Nabi.He said Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) is most ideal personality before the entire humanity to have a peaceful and pleasant life.

He appreciated initiative on the part of AIOU for arranging the event which he hoped would help to motivate the young generation to follow a right path, in accordance with Islamic code life, as enshrined in Quran and Sunnah. “We need to reform the society that could be helpful for others,” he added.

Engr Balighur Rehman spoke highly about the significance of the Sunnat-e-Nabi and said people are needed to find solution of their problems from teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) who is the best example for developing a society based on social justice. He said Seerat , of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) serves as panacea for the problems faced by present day world in general and for Muslims in particular.”The challenges we are currently exposed to, both external and internal can be efficiently addressed through compliance to the life, teachings and preaching of the Prophet Mohammad,” he added.

He appreciated presence of renowned scholars in the conference including Dr Sulman Nadvi, Dr Nisar Ahmed Farooqi said their collective efforts would help to reform the society in light of the Seerah of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

The conference was also addressed by the Dean Faculty of Arabic and Islamic Studies Dr Ali Asghar Chishti and the coordinator of the conference Dr Shah Mohiyuddin Hashimi who highlighted the objectives of the conference and thanked the participants for taking keen interest in advancing the teachings of the Holy prophet (PBUH).
