ISLAMABAD -  Lawyers on Saturday allegedly manhandled a court bailiff and other officials when the latter reached a house to get it vacated in Sector E-7, Islamabad.

The court bailiff was constituted by civil judge Islamabad to get possession of a house in Sector E-7 of the capital. The complainant, a bailiff member, Riasat Mahmood in his application to Kohsar police stated that he along with other officials, including Assistant Commissioner, Magistrate CDA, and police officials reached the house in Sector E-7 for getting it vacated. However, he alleged, lawyers Riasat Ali Azad, a candidate for the District Bar President in elections 2018-19, Sohail Ahmed, Tayyab Ahmed, Muhammad Zaib, Ali Amaan, Barrister Usman and others instead of complying with the court orders, used abusive language against the judges and the bailiff and also threatened them with dire consequences. The lawyers also attacked the officials which, according to the applicant, could hardly save their lives. The Assistant Commissioner, however, called more police force and got the court orders implemented by pushing the occupants out of the premises. Riasat Mahmood asked the police to register a case against the lawyers for their act under relevant sections of the law.

TEMURI ASSUMES CHARGE

Meanwhile, newly-appointed IG Islamabad police Sultan Azam Temuri assumed the charge of his office. In this connection, a ceremony was organised at the Police Lines headquarters.

Speaking on the occasion, Temuri said that the force would be made people-friendly and corruption-free. He vowed to change the administrative structure of the police force and added the law would apply against poor and rich equally. He also paid tributes to the services of former IG Khalid Khattak.
