Lollywood stars dazzle on the ramp

LAHORE-Day one of the three day Bridal Couture Week kicked off the other day showcasing latest bridal trends across the nation. From trend setting runway magic to glamorous style statements with every passing year, BCW has revolutionized the idea of ground-breaking runway style.

With top notch Lollywood celebrities sashaying down the ramp or making for a dazzling audience, BCW was high on glamour.

Day1 of PHBCW17 commenced by fashion guru Fahad Hussayn, he presented his collection Arth Novelty which was a tribute to classical Indian movie Arth, and supports Pakistani cinema by collaborating with the Pakistani remake of the movie. With work of intricate silk thread embroideries, interlaced with delicate handwork of exquisite craftsmanship on custom nets, organza, tissue, chiffon and other exclusive surfaces, along with the design house hand painted and vintage revival prints. All of her ensembles had a complete and comprehensive bridal look for a modern bride-to be. The star studded cast of Arth, Shaan Shahid, Uzma Hassan, Mohib Mirza and Humaima Malik graced the ramp for the designer.

With so much ethnic glamour on the ramp, Mifrah worked with traditional ornamentation to highlight her stunning lavish fabrics. The collection was a fusion of soft hues, rich embellishments, sequins and pearls, maintaining a balance between traditional work and modern cuts. Humayun Alamgir was third to showcase his collection Poshak on the ramp. Highlighting extremely sharp customizing and drastically incline outlines, he presented a wide range of Sherwani’s.  I would say his collection wasn’t up to standard. It was more bland and nothing to catch the attention. Bilal Abbas walked the ramp for the designer with a special performance by Wali Hamid Khan.

Reema Ahsan showcased her collection Jesuis Belle. Rich fabrics like velvet, tissue and brocades with hints of dabqa and gota was used to give an ethnic yet modern touch to the winter bride. Greater attention had been given to the choice of fabric and embellishment which had a lot of variety but the collection failed to impress the audience. There was nothing much special in the collection that could grab the attention. Show one concluded with Aisha Imran’s Jahan Ara. The collection was made using rich fabrics like raw silks with resham work, zardozi, tilla and kora dabka. The colour palette shuffles between soft neutrals to vibrant jewel tones adding a touch of old world luxury. It aimed for modern women who isn’t afraid to experiment and makes a style statement on her wedding day.  The charming Ahmed Ali and Mahenur Hader  show-stopped for the designer.

Show 2 of PHBCW started with Faris by Ziggi Menswear. The collection was inspired from heroic patriotism, with special dedication to those who sacrifice their lives for their country. Looking at both eastern and western military dress code, the palette used in this collection was royal blue, deep maroon, olive and bottle green. He once again proved that no one can beat him in menswear. The collection was edgy and perfect for contemporary men.

Mohsin Naveed Ranjha Collection titled ‘Gulab Sandesh’ was truly amazing. Motifs used in the collection were all inspired by flora and fauna with shades of aquadist green, metallic grey and blushing peach blended seamlessly with the patterns. Use of Suchagotta, zanjeera, vasli and dogh made this collection one of its kind. Adding to the glamour, Lollywood Diva Sajal Aly became the showstopper for the designer. Wearing Aquadist green ensemble, she stunned the audience with her confidence and gracefulness.  AimaBaig performance added allure to MNR’s collection.

Dance maestro Wahab Shah added an extra flavour to the bridal drama with his impeccable Pantene segment performance, where the singing sensation Zoe Viccaji raised the entertainment quotient of the show with her upbeat performance.

Last but not least if you are the one who has been fascinated by the queens and worldly charms, here is the trend you can adorn.  Deepak N Fahad presented their Collection Shahtaabi. The colour combos were quite endearing and the fabric employed by the designers spoke the quality.

Day 1 of three-day bridal extravaganza concluded with a bang in a special segment Classic 15, where the country’s top 15 couturiers presented a specially designed outfit each, including HSY, Karma, Elan, Saniya Maskatiya, House of Amir Adnan, Nida Azwer, Rana Noman, The House of KamiarRokni, Mahgul, ShamshaHashwani, Nilofer Shahid, Farah TalibAziz, Mehdi, Republic by Omar Farooq and Honey Waqar. Rising star Haroon  Shahid enthralled the audience with his remarkable performance.
