Rawalpindi - Police have arrested the mother who had allegedly killed her 15-day-old daughter by throwing her into a well, sources informed yesterday.
However, station house officer of police station Mandra, Ishtiaq Cheema is not producing the accused before a court of law for obtaining her physical remand, they added. The SHO even misbehaved with this correspondent when he was contacted for his version.
According to sources, Rehana Bibi, a resident of Jilyari Moazzam Shah, had developed some dispute with her husband Ilyas, a labourer by profession. Later, the lady took her 15-day-old infant daughter and threw her into the well, they said. They added that later the lady started searching her daughter in a bid to throw mud in the eyes of family members. They said that the dead body of the girl was found from the well by police on the information provided by the villagers. The dead body was shifted to DHQ for post mortem and later it was handed over to heirs for burial.
Police registered a murder case against the lady on the application of her husband and arrested her, sources said.
SHO Ishtiaq Cheema, when approached by this correspondent to know his official version, said that police had nabbed the lady on murder charges.
When asked whether or not the accused has been presented before a court of law for obtaining her physical remand, the SHO started misbehaving and said, “Producing the lady before the court and obtaining her remand is none of your business. Come and join police force if you are very fond of investigations.”
