ISLAMABAD - Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) President Asif Ali Zardari yesterday grilled Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for alleged political victimisation of PPP leaders.
Reacting to the implication of his brother-in-law Mir Munawar Talpur in a corruption case, Asif Ali Zardari termed it a new year’s gift for him by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, adding, that in the past too, false cases were instituted against PPP leaders but they faced these cases in the court of law and would do it again.
Without naming Nawaz Sharif, he said they would not escape from the country by tendering apology in written and would face these politically-motivated cases in the courts of law.
He further said that last year they had implicated Dr Asim in a series of false cases and nothing was proved against him and this year they have targeted Mir Munawar Talpur.
Zardari regretted that Nawaz Sharif had learnt no lesson from the past and had indulged in the same politics of victimisation he had been doing in the 90s. Ultimately he would fall victim to the trap he had made for his political opponents.
He vowed to fight out the charges levelled against the party leaders in the court of law and not to bow to the tyrant forces. “Nobody was able to get his agenda accomplished against PPP in the past and nor will they be able to get their way now,” he made it loud and clear.
He referred to a video containing the proof of a provincial minister in Punjab taking bribe and said no action was taken against him while another provincial minister - a close relative of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif - was levelling allegation of his involvement in 21 murders but the authorities were keeping mum.
DANIYAL REJECTS ALLEGATIONS: INP adds: Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) leader Daniyal Aziz said yesterday that making cases and releasing people was the job of relevant departments and not prime minister’s. He said the PM never tried to influence any department.
Responding to PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari’s allegations, Daniyal said PML-N’s opponents blamed Nawaz Sharif over Zardari’s acquittal in various cases while Zardari also blamed him for cases made against him and his aides.
