Journalist among six killed in violence

KARACHI – As many as six people, including a journalist, were killed in different city neighbourhoods on Wednesday.Police recovered two bodies from Pak Colony area. The victims were identified as Fawad Sheikh, 31, son of Sadiq Sheikh, and Tariq Kamal, 35, son of Urfat Kamal. Police officials said the victims, who happened to be friends, went missing on last Sunday. They suspected that unidentified culprits first abducted them and later threw their bodies after shooting them on their heads. One Fawad lived in Gizri and Tariq in Gulshan-e-Iqbal. Police officials said that Tariq used to work as the assistant chief reporter at the local Sindhi newspaper while Fawad was associated with the leather business and was the father of four month old baby boy. Their missing reports were registered at Gizri Police Station, respectively. SHO Saleem Marwat said that the culprits who have yet to be ascertained killed the victims on the suspicious of being police informant as the culprits also phoned their families and informed them about victims’ links to the police before killing them. The chief editor of local new paper informed that Tariq was going among his friend on some work on Sunday and after that they were missing, adding unidentified men contact with Tariq mother and said that we will kill him on the suspicious of informer of police. He said i am not sure that they were kidnapped in Winder Balochistan might be unidentified men kidnapped them from Karachi and show that they were kidnapped in Balochistan. On the other hand Fawad nephew Mohammad Ali said that victim Fawad went from home on Sunday and said that i am going to meet with Tariq and then he was missing, adding that newt day unidentified armed contact with Fawad wife and said that we will kill him because he is working for police and pray for him and then disconnect the call. The FIR No. 115/12 wasregistered against unidentified persons on the complaint of victim brother Saleem and initiated probe the case.Two people were killed while other injure during clash in Bakra Piri within the jurisdiction of Malir City police station. The incident took place at Malir 15 near Bakra Piri Rickshaw stand where two groups of rickshaw drivers start fight with each other, during fight an armed man pull a pistol and open firing; resultantly three people received bullet injuries. After getting the information police rushed on scene and shifted injured to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medical treatment where during treatment two men succumbed to his injuries. SHO Ismail Lashari said a victim identified as 28 Hafeez son of Dur Mohammad was the resident of Kalakot Lyari, while other identity is yet to be ascertained and injured namely Rashid son of Ismail in under treatment. SHO Ismail Lashari saidvictims were taking drugs and at the time of incident he were fight after taking drugs and then start fight with each other resultantly two men killed while other injure. He said other rickshaw drivers manage to flee from the scene. Police said victim was associated with outlawed People Amn Committee (PAC) and might be PAC rival group involved in that incident. Later police moved the body of unidentified man in Edhi Morgue after completing the legal formalities. No case was registered till filing the report.Another body of an abducted man was found from Moosa Lane within thejurisdiction of Baghdadi police station. He was taken to the Civil Hospital, Karachi where the family identified him as Mohammad, 45, son of Younis. Police officials said that the culprits shot the victim twice on his head and face before throwing his body at the abandon place. They said that the victim was associated with the prize bond business and went missing from Tuesday evening. Police said on Tuesday he went from his shop and said to his other colleague that I am going for meet some one and might be I will not today at shop and then he had no contact with some one, while on the early hours of Wednesday police found his shot dead body from Baghdadi area. The case was registered against unidentified persons.Separately, tension engulfs in empress market and its surrounding area after the attack on the activist of Awami National Party. According to police push cart vendor namely Azam son of Rehmat was standing near Rambo Centre when unidentified armed men attack on him, resultantly he receive bullet injuries, after that incident scores of unidentified men start protest and forcibly close all the shops they threw stones on vehicle resultantly four vehicles mirror broken. Due to protest massive traffic jam n Empress Market and its surrounding area. SP Farrukh said after getting information heavy contingents of police reached on spot and disperses the protestors he said after deployment of police law and order situation are under control and injured man belongs from ANP. The injured shifted to JPMC for medical treatment. no case was registered till filing the report.A policeman was injured when two armed men on a motorcycle opened fire at the police personnel sitting at a hotel on Super Highway within the jurisdiction of Sohrab Goth police station. A police constable, namely Mukhtiar and another person, namely Faisal sitting at a hotel were wounded. The injured policeman was taken to the private hospital. DSP Iftikhar Lodhi said PC Mukhtiar received a bullet injuries on his shoulder and his condition are in out of danger, adding that initially police reveal that Sher Zaman Mehsud group are involved in that attack.Separately, an activist of Pakistan Muslim League (N) was shot dead in Junejo Town within the precincts of Baloch Colony police station. The incident took place at Junejo Town street No 21 where two armed men reached on motorcycle and stop the in front of 50-year-old Malik Shahbaz son of Malik Ata Mohammad and after exchanging the hot  word they open firing on him, resultantly he received two bullet each on his head and chest and died on the spot. After committing the crime culprits manage to flee from the scene. SHO Aslam Khakrani said victim was the resident of same area and he was the active of PML-N, adding that the reason of murder is yet to be ascertained and might be personal enmity is motive behind the incident. The body was shifted to JPMC for medico legal formalities. 
Tension engulfs in surrounding areas of Junejo Town and all shops and market close due to uncertain condition of locality.
