Fesco staff protests privatisation plan

The employees of Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (Fesco) continued their strike against the proposed privatisation of the company for the third consecutive day on Friday.
They locked the Fesco offices and held protest meetings in front of the offices. They announced that they will resist the government’s decision to privatise the company, which was running in good profit. The protesters were wearing black armbands and chanting slogans against the government. Their leaders said that the government was trying to sell Fesco to their favourite persons at a throwaway price. They said that they would continue their strike till the withdrawal of the proposed decision of the government.
IQBAL PAID TRIBUTE: Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal was a great poet and scholar of 20th century, said DCO Amer Ijaz Akbar. He was addressing a seminar on the topic of Allama Iqbal’s poetry and philosophy held in a school. He stated that his thoughts and philosophy created awareness among the Muslims and it caused the creation of Pakistan.
Rai Wajid Ali Khan said Allama Iqbal was very much clear to the fact that if Muslim youth had focused their real destiny, they could have led the Muslims of Subcontinent out of the danger of the destruction earlier they did. The others who also spoke included District Monitoring Officer Asif Ali Dogar, Principal Aslam Chaudhry, Ms Shazia Baig and several students.
