LAHORE: The Three-day Hum Bridal Couture Week concluded on high note with a lot of drama, glamour and, of course, a bevy of Lollywood stars on the ramp. It was a night of glamour and recognition of the country’s top designers on an international scale.
Show one of concluding day of PHBCW opened up with showcasing of Zonia Anwar collection Raze Zibaei. It was all about minimal old school silhouettes and timeless heirloom pieces. Some trendy additions to the dresses would have made the entire collection look more chic. From jewel tones to pastels intricately handcrafted with eloquent floral patterns, metallic sheer layering and clean lines combining flattering cuts, the collection wasn’t up to mark. The gorgeous singing sensation Qurat-ul-Ain Baloch walked the ramp for the designer.
Next up was Umsha by Uzma Babar, made of extravagant silhouettes and textures as old as time, the collection was a blend of both modern world romance and cultural values. It contained contemporary silvers, affluent golds, popular pastels and flamboyant reds, inspired by folklore and custom. Clad in a glittering gold ensemble Lollywood diva Saba Qamar took a tumble in the middle of the runway but gracefully stood back and completed her walk.
Ahsan was third to showcase his collection Tabeer on the ramp. He showcased a wide range of Sherwanis with detailed work on it. The collection’s over-arching focus was its patterns incorporating floral and detailed embroidery of Al-Andalus era wedding outfits. Overall the collection was very much pleasing.
Show one of concluding day ended on high note with the collection of designer duo Asifa & Nabeel. The collection offered versatile silhouettes, chattering embroideries and mellowed colours. It was all about extravagant silhouettes with enriched embellishments indulging in intricacies, amalgamating the ethnicity with a contemporary twist. Opulent embellishments depict contrast between the bold intricacies, creating a dreamy decade. The gorgeous Kubra Khan walked the ramp for designer duo Asifa & Nabeel, while Soch the Band performed for the brand and set the mood of the night.
Show two of PHBCW day 3 started with the designer duo Nikkie Nina, the collection was quite impressive and eye catching. The colours had perfect combination and contrast. The duo showcased their artistic brilliance. The vibrant pops of colour in gold, silver, royal blue and coral were featured across the collection, topped off with rose cut diamantes for an extra air of elegance amongst gold and silver detailing. The star studded cast of Parchi, Hareem Farooq, Usman Mukhtar and the witty Ali Rehman graced the ramp for Nikkie Nina.
Maheen Taseer showcased her collection An-Nism, which had a lot of diversity with cuts and colours. It was rich in texture and had fine cuts with intricate embroidery. The net embroidered sleeves were beautifully and intricately done. Stunning Ushna Shah added allure to her collection.
Munib Nawaz’s collection was a tribute to the journey, cause and life of one of the subcontinent’s most prolific poets and thought leaders, Ghalib. This time his collection did not work out as there was lack of cohesion. Ali Noor walked the ramp for the designer.
We all wait desperately for one name from which we always expect stunning collection and that is one and only Ali Xeeshan. He has always enthralled audience with his stunning jaw dropping creations. His way of expressing concerns about current social and political scenarios is deeply rooted in his showcase and this Bridal Couture Week’s finale seems like an epic act of truth and dare. The collection was vibrant, lively and festive. He proved his mettle with the latest fashion techniques, playing all commercial and having the fashion enthusiasts with the variety he presented. In order to highlight the evil of child marriages Ali Xeeshan brought a little girl on the ramp to spotlight the difficulties of family system and society is getting when girl at tender age are forced into marriage. Overall the collection was classy and biggest hit of the day.
