Govt’s ouster can lead country to prosperity: Imran

Says Hudaibiya case spells doom for entire Sharif family

Sheikhupura - Lashing out at his opponents, Chairman Tehreek-i-Insaf Imran Khan said Sunday that Asif Ali Zardari and Mian Nawaz Sharif had ruined the country and ouster of this government could put the country on the road to progress and prosperity.

Addressing a big public gathering here, he criticised the attitude of deputy commissioner Sheikhupura for not granting permission to hold his party meeting inside the hockey stadium.

He said the stadium neither owned by Shehbaz Sharif nor DC Arqam Tariq. He warned the DC to be ready to face consequences for that unfair attitude after PTI comes into power. Khan expressed his gratitude for extending warm welcome to him by the masses of Sheikhupura.

The huge gathering was well-attended by PTI leaders, activists and people from all walks of life.

Addressing the gathering, Imran said about four years ago when he had visited the Sheikhupura city, there were limited number of people present in his meeting but he was astonished to see a sea of people at Sunday’s gathering. He said Sharif brothers had made propaganda that he had ties with Zionists but today many religious parties were on roads against both brothers on Khatm-e-Nubuwat issue.

He said the deserving and unprivileged people in the country were facing hardships due to discriminatory treatment and wrong policies of the Sharif brothers.

“The PTI, after coming into power, will rectify all these wrongdoings and provide equal opportunities to every citizen of the country.”

He said only 200 honest people in the country could change the destiny of the country. Citing example of the KP’s IG police Nasir Durrani, Imran said being an honest man Durrani had changed police culture of the province. A similar person would be appointed as the chairman of the NAB who, without any fear and nepotism, would put hands on corrupt elements in the country.

He said the former chairman NAB Qamar Zaman was the patron-in-chief of corrupt mafia and had provided maximum relief to the Sharif brothers in money-laundering. The PTI would not spare him if it came into power after forthcoming general elections.

He said his government would provide equal opportunities to all minorities including Christians, Hindu, Sikh and others. The disqualified PM Nawaz Sharif had plundered Rs300 billion and stashed it in foreign banks but nobody had asked him about his corruption, the PTI chief said. “My government will bring this amount back if people voted us to power. The education system will also be revived and the competent and qualified persons like Dr Ataur Rehman will be appointed as the head of academic institutions.

The PTI chairman said due to unsatisfactory prevailing system people were shifting their money to Dubai, Malaysia, Bangladesh and other courtiers. The PTI, after coming into power, would provide relief to such people, he said. “Late president of Pakistan Ayub Khan when visited the USA, the then US president himself received him at the airport. While today our PM and other key figures when visit the said country no respect and honour is given to them due to the wrong foreign policies,” maintained Imran. But PTI government would maintain the dignity and honour of the country throughout the world, he said.

Agencies add: Khan said the ruling party touched the issue of Khatm-e-Nabuwat just to please the western lobby.

“Both Nawaz Sharif and Asif Zardari have murdered the merit to halt country’s journey towards prosperity,” he said, adding that Pakistan can resume its journey once the ruling PML-N is ousted from power.”

He also unveiled PTI’s future programme for a ‘New Pakistan’. Khan said the entire Sharif family was corrupt and leading the country to a dead end.

Khan said the Hudaibiya case would spell disaster for the entire Sharif family as the graft case involves the names of all members of the family.

He said the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) days were numbered.

He also recalled that foreign tourists used to visit Pakistan in its glorious past, but the country had been so badly exploited now that even Pakistanis were going to foreign countries in search of better employment opportunities and a healthy lifestyle.

The PTI chairman pointed out that it was very easy to make money in a position of power in Pakistan due to its plight, and said that Nawaz Sharif did exactly that as he had only one factory in 1982, but these multiplied to 30 by the year 1992.

“Those who had labelled me as an agent of Jewish lobby were the ones who altered the Khatm-e-Nabuwat clause in the elections bill to appease their ‘Western masters,” Khan went on to say, adding that they denied it after the nation reacted harshly, but acknowledged it in the end.

The PTI chief also came down hard on the former National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman, saying that “he was a hurdle in the way of true accountability…he saved many culprits of the nation”.

He also warned that the future PTI government would drag him back to Pakistan and hold him answerable for his deeds.

Imran Khan also appealed to the people to act justly and kindly towards the county’s minorities.

PTI spokesperson Fawad Chaudhry meanwhile predicted that the government would not survive until the next year.

He also reiterated his party’s unconditional support to Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) leader Dr Tahirul Qadri in his demand for the resignations of Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Law Minister Rana Sanaullah.

Earlier, the PTI General Secretary Jahangir Tareen said that Sharif brothers had exploited the Kisan and labourer community and made their economic murder but PTI government would provide every possible facility to them after winning the elections.

Awami League chief Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad also criticised the Sharif brothers and said their political carrier had gone to end. PTI leader Aleem Khan, ex-governor Ch Sarwar were also present in the meeting. An unprecedented firework was displayed on this occasion which was lauded by Imran Khan.
