Two involved in jirga-sanctioned murder of Karachi couple confess crime

The two accused have confessed the crime in the assassination of newly married couple on the order of jirga in port city of Karachi.

The judicial magistrate district west has conducted the hearing of the murder case of couple who committed love marriage but local jirga has ordered to assassinate them.

The arrested accused of the jirga, Zia-ul-Haq and Ghulam Rasool, have recorded their confessional statement before the court that jirga has ordered to assassinate the couple.

On Nov 22, the head of the jirga, in collaboration with his sons, subjected to torture the couple and killed them. On the next day, in consultation with members of jirga, the dead bodies of deceased were hidden .

“On the same day, Abdul Rashid Mirza and Azam have taken the dead bodies in graveyard while putting them in bags and dig the ditches and buried them”, the accused added and maintained that they have followed the instructions given by jirga.

They added that on Nov 24, residents of the area have informed the police about the missing of couple. The police dug the graves of deceased and shifted their dead bodies for postmortem in Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

It is pertinent to mention here that Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah had taken the notice of this incident and sought inquiry report from Inspector General of Police Sindh.
