LAHORE - Asad Niaz routed Gul Hameed Khan to lift the 60 plus singles title in the ongoing 1st Long beach ITF Seniors World Ranking Tournament here at the PLTA tennis courts. Asad Niaz played well against Gul Hameed and overpowered him by 6-2, 4-0 to win the title . Gul Hameed could not complete the second set and retired hurt. In 35 plus doubles semifinals, Irfan Ullah and Shahzad Khan upset top seeds Israr Gul and Shehryar Salamat 6-4, 6-4 to qualify for the final. In the second semifinal, Asher Ali and Fayyaz Khan beat Naeem Sid and M Arif 6-4, 6-4 to qualify for the final. In 35 plus singles semifinals, Shahzad Khan beat Talha Waheed 6-1, 6-2 while Fayyaz Khan beat Syed Haddi 6-0, 6-1 to qualify for the final. In 45 plus doubles semifinal, Israr Gul and Irfanullah beat Fayyaz Khan and M Arif 6-3, 6-4 to qualify for the final. In 50 plus group doubles semifinal, Asad Niaz and Imran Siddique beat Waqar Nisar and M Saeed 6-1, 6-0 while in the second semifinal, Rashid Malik and Rai Zahid got walk over against Iftikhar Rao and Pervaiz Bajwa. In 65 plus round robin matches, Shahid Mehmood and Naveed Najam beat Khalid Ikram and Khurram Khawaja 6-2, 6-2. In the second match, Ch Muhstaq Ahmed and Laiq Pirzada beat Pervaiz Bajwa and Imtiaz Hussain Malik 6-3, 6-4. In 65 plus singles semifinals, Laiq Ahmed Pirzada beat Ch Musthaq 7-5, 7-5 while Shahid Mehmood beat Khurram Khawaja 6-4, 6-3 in the second semifinal.
