Islamabad -  Mayor Islamabad and Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) will inaugurate Cycle Lanes at the Constitution Avenue on Saturday, said CDA officials yesterday.

In this connection, they said, a colorful ceremony would be organised at Foreign Office which would be participated by the people from different walks of life, including people from print and electronic media. Demarcation of segregated Cycling Lanes in Islamabad is being carried out in implementation of action plan of ‘Islamabad Green Charter’ so that damages to the environment caused by the increasing traffic could be controlled by promoting bicycle culture in the federal capital.

In the first phase, the cycle lanes are being demarcated at the Constitution Avenue , School Road (F-6), Margalla Road (F-6/F-7) and the 7th Avenue which would be later on replicated across the city. Different government and semi government organisations, elected representatives, Islamabad Cycling Association, Critical Mass Islamabad, civil society and environmentalists are assisting Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) and CDA in this regard. In order to further promote bicycle culture in the city, construction of cycle tracks in F-9 Park has also been planned, they added.
