“In politics if you want anything said,
ask a man. If you want anything
done, ask a woman.”
–Margaret Thatcher

These famous words by Margaret Thatcher ring true for the state of United Kingdom today more than ever. When the two main figureheads who were in favour of Brexit, Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage were unwilling to back up their rhetoric with leadership and initiatives, it took the courageousness of a woman, Theresa May to take the seat of the Prime Minister and initiate the process of Brexit. The unpredictability and degree of damage control required can only be managed by a woman who was not in favour of Brexit but simply performs her duty because the referendum by her is considered to be the representative voice of the people. Benazir became a figurehead for the peoplein our country, worked in favour of the people. It is female leaders like this – unafraid and unrelenting – in a man’s world that set the stage for women’s empowerment.
