LAHORE - Director General Sports Punjab Zulfiqar Ahmed Ghumman and Director Cricket Coaching Academies Zaheer Abbas inaugurated Sports Board Punjab’s second cricket academy at Jinnah Stadium, Sialkot on Thursday.

DCO Sialkot Asif Tufail, Deputy Director Admin Tariq Wattoo, Divisional Sports Officer Gujranwala Faisal Ameer, District Sports Officer Sialkot Imran Butt and a large number of cricket lovers attended the opening ceremony.

Addressing the opening ceremony, SBP DG Zulfiqar Ghumman said: “The Sports Board Punjab, as per the vision of Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif, launched several sports projects across the province. The chain of cricket academies is also part of that move.”

He said that qualified coaches would impart training to youngsters at Sialkot Academy . "Sports grounds are being built in various big and small cities of the province. The youth of the far flung areas will get enough opportunities to demonstrate their talent at these sports venues.”

In his address, Zaheer Abbas said: “After some time, we can see the benefits of these academies. Training youngsters as per modern requirements is our top priority. These academies will definitely prove to be a great source of international level training in Pakistan.” Zaheer said as per planning, two academies had been launched and the remaining two would be opened in near future.
