Seasonal GB motels on CPEC route to remain open till December 1: PTDC

ISLAMABAD: Managing Director Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC), Ch Abdul Ghafoor Khan on Friday said, "The seasonal motels located in Gilgit-Baltistan Region enroute China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will remain open till December 1."

Talking to media, Ghafoor Khan further said, "A specific calendar of tourism event will be chalked out for Gilgit-Baltistan that would include four-season events."

"A special car-rally with colourful cars and SUVs carrying friendship flags will be organized from Islamabad to China in near future," he said.

He also told that PTDC has planned to construct a Motel with modern facilities for the tourists at Naltar, Gilgit.

"On the request of PTDC, the Chief Minister of Gilgit Baltistan Hafiz Hafeez-ur-Rehman has allotted a piece of land measuring 30 kanals at Naltar for the construction of a Motel by PTDC with modern facilities near the PAF Skiing Slopes which is ideal location," he said.

He added that, "CM GB agreed that in future, all official meetings and conferences will be held in PTDC Motels, for which PTDC will provide special discounted rates for these events."

"Being the start point of CPEC in Pakistan side, Gilgit Baltistan region is land of opportunity, and domestic people would ultimately be beneficiary after the economic corridor with all natural resources to attract the visitor as well," he said. He appreciated the interest shown by the GB Government for the promotion in the area. 

While expressing his views he also stated, "GB Government has a vibrant plan to install and operate a chairlift and provide other facilities at Naltar by the GB Government aiming at ensuring entertainment and amusement facilities to the general public and visiting guests."

"The Gilgit Baltistan presents safe, secure and peaceful atmosphere to the visiting foreign and local tourists," he added.

The managing director, PTDC expressed the hope that such steps will definitely bring about prosperity in the area. 

"In order to facilitate the tourists, PTDC and Gilgit Baltistan Government will join hands mutually and have close cooperation with each other to ensure provision of modern facilities to the visiting tourists," he said.
