HAFIZABAD/GUJRANWALA -  Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions who embraced martyrdom for upholding Islam was observed amid tight security, in Hafizabad, Pindi Bhattian and other towns of the district on Friday.

A Zuljinnah and Tazia procession was taken out in the city, which terminated in Fawara Chowk. The mourners, beating their chest, kept on reciting Ya-Hussain Ya-Hussain and later gathered at Fawara Chowk where the speakers paid glowing tributes to Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions for laying their lives for the glorification of Islam. The Zakireen called upon their audience to imbibe the spirit of sacrifice of the Great Imam to fight oppression and uphold truth. The police have made foolproof arrangements to ensure peaceful atmosphere and all roads leading to Markazi Imambargah and Fawara Chowk were blocked and most of the shopping centres remained closed across the district. DPO Dr Sardar Ghias Gull and Deputy Commissioner Saliha Saeed supervised the security arrangements. No untoward incident was reported from any place of the district till the filing of the report.

In Gujranwala, the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions was observed across the district with religious fervour and solemnity.

A total of 12 processions were took out while five Majalis were held throughout the district. The main procession of the day was taken out from Imambargah Qasr-e-Abbas Awan Chowk. Speakers on the occasion paid glowing tribute to Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and other martyrs of Karbala who fought for the cause of righteousness and upholding the golden principles of Islam. Elaborated security arrangements were made by the police as about 1,000 police officers and officials were deployed to avert any unpleasant incident. The day, however, passed peacefully.
