Eid-ul-Fitr likely on 20th

ISLAMABAD – Eidul Fitr is expected to fall on August 20 in Pakistan as the first moon of Shawwal is expected to be visible on August 19 instead of 18, thus Pakistani Muslims are likely to have a 30-day Ramazan.
“Weather conditions are going to be partially cloudy in the upper areas making moon sighting highly unlikely”, the Met officials said. The position and angles of the new moon at the time of sunset are also favourable for moon-sighting on that day, the they added.
According to a private news channel, the first moon of Shawwal is likely to dot the horizon first in Balochistan and Sindh areas as the skies are predicted to be clear there on August 19. The Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee will meet under Mufti Munib-ur-Rehman on August 18 for sighting of Shawwal moon.
