CJ seeks PMDC report on admission policy

ISLAMABAD - Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar on Monday took suo motu notice on a news item that states there is no uniform policy criterion for admission to private medical colleges.

The news item alleges that exorbitant fee is being charged by private medical colleges. Students who could not get admission in government medical Colleges, rush towards private medical colleges for admission, where the private medical colleges charge exorbitant fee, it states.

The chief justice has called for a detailed report from the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), Islamabad, registrar within one week so as to apprise about the admission merit criterion of private medical colleges; structure of fee schedule and maximum limit of fee that private medical colleges can charge; the role of PMDC in regulating the admissions and fee charges of private medical colleges, and the action in this regard, so far taken by the PMDC, if any.
