PESHAWAR - To press the government for making the Federally-Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) a part of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Jamaat-e-Islami’s long-march will enter the federal capital via Faizabad Tuesday (Today) for a sit-in outside the Parliament House.
The march was kicked off from Bab-e-Khyber, Khyber Agency on Sunday and reached Peshawar and Nowshera on Monday after passing through various routes.
Holding the party flags and chanting slogans, the marchers were actively participating in the show of power, who would assemble in front of the Parliament House, wherein the JI leadership and others politicians would address them.
The scheduled sit-in outside the Parliament House is expected to continue for more than three days, as the JI is accusing the federal government of delaying mainstreaming the Fata for no reason.
The entire political leadership and even tribesmen themselves were calling for the merger of the tribal areas with the KP altogether since long.
Leading the marchers towards Islamabad, the JI KP chapter Chief Mushtaq Ahmad Khan said that despite cold and continues rain, they would continue their journey towards the federal capital, as the government was not much interested to implement all the recommendations of the Fata Reforms Committee for once and all.
Like making the announcement of extending the apex court domain to the tribal areas and abolishing the FCR law, the government must openly announce Fata’s merger with KP and give representation to tribal people in the provincial assembly, so that tribesmen could elect their members for the KP Assembly in the 2018 general elections.
It would be a historic sit-in as the JI had formally invited the top leadership of all the political parties to attend, JI leader said.
He said the people from Islamabad and Rawalpindi would be welcomed in the gathering.
On this occasion, the JI central Ameer Senator Sirajul Haq would lead the marchers, who would also be accompanied by the KP Senior Minister Inayatullah Khan, JI Parliamentary leader in the National Assembly Sahibzada Tariqullah and others, the JI KP chief informed.
He said that the JI would not stop the movement until Fata is made part of the province.
The government was not in a position to deceive tribal anymore by the ambiguous announcement, he questioned why not it announced openly that from today, Fata is no more Fata, but it is now part of the province.
This is a historic opportunity for the government to go ahead on implementing the recommendations of its own constituted committee.
Meanwhile, the JUI-S Chief Maulana Samiul Haq, who is also a staunch supporter of Fata’s merger with the KP, while speaking to the marchers on way to Islamabad at Akora Khattak said that the US was against the merger of Fata with KP as the decision was unacceptable to it.
Sami said that his party had and would continue its struggle for the rights of tribal people and mainstream tribal areas forthwith.
