A total of 323 public transport vehicles were challaned on the charge of installing substandard gas cylinders while about three dozen vehicles were impounded, disclosed a police official. Moreover cases under sections 285/386 PPC were registered against the owners/drivers of six vehicles on the charge of keeping petrol cans in their vehicles , said Ghulam Meeran, in-charge district traffic police. He has directed the Manger of bus/van stands to ensure that no vehicle having substandard gas cylinders operates.
