Hazaara and Awam Express’ engines failed on Bahawalpur Railway Station thereby irking the passengers who faced difficulties in the hot weather. The trains remained stuck at Railway Station for more than 2 hours, on observing anger in passengers the Ministry of Railway distributed the food and bottled water to the passengers.Hazaara Express plying from Karachi to Rawalpindi and Awam Express from Karachi to Rawalpindi faced engine failures due to which both the trains remain stuck at Bahawalpur Railway Station for more than 2 hours on which the passengers protested in the hot weather.Zeeshan Shafiq, a resident of Karachi, said that he was traveling with his family for summer vacation while the train was already 18 hours late and “now we have nothing left to eat and drink”.Muhammad Umair, another passenger, said that he was traveling with his kids and wife from Karachi to Rawalpindi and had to attend a funeral in Rawalpindi but due to the engine failure of train they have missed the funeral.On the protest of passengers, the railway administration on the direction of Ministry of Railways distributed chicken Biryani and bottled water to the passengers and after 2 hours on arrival of new engines both the trains departed from the station.Railway Station Master Naeemuddin Durrani said that on directions of higher authorities 2,750 bottles of water and 2,000 packets of Chicken Biryani had been distributed to the passengers.‘Extortionist’ booked The City Police registered a case against an alleged extortionist for demanding money from DHQ Hospital Medical Superintendent here the other day.Reportedly, MS Dr Muhammad Hussain informed the police that a man, who introduced himself as Irfan Gujjar, had threatened his steno on phone of dire consequences if the MS (he) did not pay extortion. The Police are investigating the matter.
