A Kuwait-retuned engineer was deprived of three thousand dirham by policemen during snap-checking at a picket in the Islampura area, police sources said on Tuesday.
Resident of Sheikhupura, Saeed Ahmed landed at the Lahore Airport on early Tuesday. Saeed, who works at private company in Kuwait as an engineer, was on his way home when the policemen stopped his vehicle at the Suggian Bridge picket for routine checking. The robbery victim, Saeed, said that the policemen cunningly took out foreign currency from his luggage. The policemen first hurled threats at him and later escaped from the place of their duty when the victim made hue and cry against the police highhandedness.  Saeed, who came back to Pakistan, to attend the engagement of his eldest son, later reached the police station concerned and lodged a complaint against the cops. Nawa-i-Waqt staffer looted
 Robbers held up a member of the Nawa-i-Waqt staff at gunpoint and deprived him of his belongings including cash and mobile phone in the Race Course police area late Monday night.
Muhammad Abbas Akhtar along with his family riding on a motorcycle was on his way home when three gunmen on a Honda-125 motorcycle intercepted him near the Jail Road Underpass.
The robbers help up Abbas and his family at gunpoint and snatched his mobile phone and purse, containing Rs 2,800 besides bank and office cards. The police are investigating with no arrest so far.
Notice over murder of kid
The Lahore High Court on Tuesday took notice over the murder of a child, 3, by cutting his ears, nose and lips in suburban area of Deepalpur, according to a press release. District and Sessions Judge has been directed to probe into the matter and submit a detailed report regarding steps taken by the local police along with his own comments.
Ali Haider son of a laborer Muhammad Asghar, resident of village Ratta Khanna, was playing in the street when an unknown person enticed him and took to a nearest place.
