15 dead in massive ammunition depot explosion at Iran military base

Fifteen people have been killed by a massive explosion at an Iranian military base, it was reported Saturday. The deadly blast happened at the Revolutionary Guard ammunition depot in Bidganeh, 12 miles west of the capital Tehran. Troops were moving weapons when the explosion happened, an official told state TV. Search and rescue crews have been sent to the scene by the charity Red Crescent, including a helicopter and more than 15 ambulances. 'The incident has definitely had deaths and wounded, but so far there is no clear information,' a member of the Shahryar city council told Irans Student News Agency. Windows of residential neighbourhoods in the western suburbs of Tehran were shattered by the blast. It was heard up to 30 miles away.
