Iqbal Day function at MAO College

OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE - Speakers at Iqbal Day function held at Government MAO College on Friday urged the youth to take guidance from the thoughts of Iqbal and reform themselves for building Pakistan as envisioned by the Quaid and Allama Iqbal as an abode of great people. The Iqbal Day function organized by the College to celebrate the 134th birth anniversary of national Poet Allama. PML-N leader Khawaja Salman Rafique was the chief guest while Director Education Punjab Rana Naseem Ahmad was guest of honour. The Principal of the college presided over the function. Khawaja Salman Rafique said that this was Allama Iqbal who impressed upon the Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah to come back from London and lead the Muslims of Sub-Continent for their separate homeland after getting freedom from the British imperialism and the yoke of Hindus simultaneously. He said Quaid-e-Azam did it and the dream of Allama Iqbal came true. The Muslim League adapted the Pakistan Resolution three years after the death of Allama Iqbal and created Pakistan seven years after the adoption of Resolution, he said. He further said heroes never die. The Pakistanis as a live nation would not let its heroes to die. Meanwhile, Sentor Pervaiz Rasheed urged young generation to seek guidance from the philosophy of Allama Iqbal and strive for national sovereignty and prosperity. In the light of the concept of self-respect of Allama Iqbal, the nation should master modern science and technology and endeavour for supremacy of law and justice, upholding of democratic values and give due importance to public opinion as it is the only way to achieve the objectives of the creation of Pakistan. These views were expressed by Senator Pervaiz Rashid while addressing a seminar in connection with Iqbal Day at Government College of Science Wahdat Road on Friday. Senator Pervaiz Rashid said that young generation should understand Iqbals philosophy and gain modern knowledge and education. He said that Allama Iqbal was a precious asset of the nation and his philosophy was still a beacon for the people. He said that process of dialogue should be promoted in the society as it was a means of awareness and seeking the truth. Senator Pervaiz Rashid further said that Allama Iqbal in his poetry gave the message of love and welfare of the people and by following his philosophy, Pakistan could be made an ideal state. Principal Science College, Dr. Zahid Yaqoob and Vice Principal Dr. Abdul Qayyum also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the responsibilities of the young generation in accordance with the teachings of Allama Iqbal.
