OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE - Entrepreneurs Organization Lahore Chapter members visited the House of Commons, London to meet with the British Members of Parliament. The main purpose of the trip was to look for opportunities for investment in UK and vise versa in Pakistan by businessman of EO Lahore. The delegation included Umair Virk (Hira Textile), Agha Murtaza (National Tiles), Faisal Shafi (Shafi Textile), Meher Kashif (Model Steel), Anees Khawaja (Mahmood Textile), S M Imran (Din Textile), Khuram Saleem (Shalimar Shoes), Yousuf Waqar (Eagle Industries) and Bilal Ejaz (Diamond Industries). British Parliamentarians and other dignitaries including MP for East Ham and Shadow Minister Stephen Timms, MP for Birmingham Perry Barr, Khalid Mehmood, MP for Warley John F Spellar, MP Loard Nazir Ahmad and Newham Councillor and Mayors Community Advisor, Umesh Desai, Mr. Peter Courtney of UK Trade & Investment, Executive Director Regeneration, Planning & Property Clive Dutton, Director Wastfield John Burton and a large number of Expatriate Pakistanis also stressed the need for early establishment of public-private joint working groups for result oriented policies. The EO delegation also had a meeting with British Parliamentarians who were of the view that Pakistan needs to focus on the development of people, give incentives to the local investors, create employment generation opportunities and ensure business competitiveness to overcome multiple internal and external challenges being faced by it. They informed the delegation that the investment in people would enable them to face these challenges being faced by it while incentives to the local investors would encourage foreign investments.
