Russia wants further economic cooperation with Pakistan

Chairperson Benazir Income Support Program, Marvi Memon has said that Pakistan wants to forge long-term and multidimensional partnership with Russia for promoting peace, and stability in the region, reported Radio Pakistan. 

Chairing a meeting of Pakistan-Russian Federation Parliamentary Friendship Group in Islamabad, she said Pakistan appreciates Russia's acknowledgement for Islamabad's commitment and sacrifices in the war against terrorism.

During the meeting, the two sides also discussed to expand cooperation in the fields of regional security, counter terrorism, economic and trade relations, energy sector, defense sector, peaceful use of nuclear energy, parliamentary and cultural exchanges.

The Russian parliamentary delegation, which was headed by Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Security and Counter Corruption, I. Piskarev, said that his country aims to maintain closer relations with Pakistan.

He said Russia considers Pakistan as an important regional power with whom Moscow intends to enhance bilateral economic cooperation beyond the current bilateral trade.
