Former director held in DHA scam

LAHORE  - NAB has arrested Brig (r) Khalid Nazir Butt, Ex-Director Project DHA City, allegedly involved a land scam worth Rs16 billion, said spokesman for the Bureau yesterday.
He said that inquiry against Hamad Arshad, owner of GLOBACO (Pvt) Ltd Management of LANDCO Subsidiary of DHA Lahore and Others was underway. The accused signed a lopsided Joint Venture agreement with Gloabco, which was discriminatory in nature and was entirely disadvantageous to the DHA causing huge loss to the authority. Furthermore, Globaco launched the project with the implied consent of the accused person without acquisition of 10000 Kanal of land and getting the Master Plan approved the from Executive Board of DHA, which was in complete violation of the approved minutes of the DHA Executive Board meeting.
Notice to ECP in plea against MPA: The Lahore High Court yesterday directed the Election Commission of Pakistan to submit reply in a petition challenging the election of PML-N MPA Ch Irshad Ahmad Arain for allegedly possessing a fake BA degree. Justice Mamoon Rashid Sheikh passed the order. The judge also sought reply from MPA and adjourned further hearing until March 15.
Fazal-ur-Rehman filed petition and pointed out that Arain won election of Punjab assembly PP-233, Vehari-II but he had fake bachelor degree. He said that at the time of filing his nomination papers the MPA posed himself as a graduate but in realty he never passed BA exam and possessed fake degree.
He said that Arian told lie and as such did not qualify to be member of provincial assembly under articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution.
