ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif today announced a compensation of Rs2.5 million each for the two families of protesters of Pakistan International Airline (PIA) who were shot dead during a demonstration in Karachi.
According to sources, the Premier also announced compensation of Rs500,000 each for the those PIA protesters who had sustained injuries in the demonstration against the proposed privatization of the national flag carrier.
He said each of the two families who lost their loved ones in the in the incident will be offered one employment in PIA .
The Prime Minister said the government will continue to review the progress of investigation into the incident that led to the killing of two PIA protesters . The families will be updated from time to time on the progress of the ongoing probe, he added.
Two PIA workers had been killed by gunshots that came from unknown direction during a protest demonstration of PIA’s Joint Action Committee (JAC) in Karachi earlier this month while several others had sustained injuries.
