RAWALPINDI - The untrained security guard , whose misinformation about terrorist attack on girls college led to stampede, has been removed from service by the college management, sources told The Nation yesterday.
Surprisingly, no action was taken against the college’s watchman who pushed emergency alarm while acting upon information provided by the young security guard .
Meanwhile, the college administration has hired some seven more well-equipped and trained security guards for protecting the female students in case of any untoward incident, sources added.
According to sources, Government Postgraduate Viqar un Nisa College for Women administration has sent back Obaid ur Rehman, 20, the untrained security guard to its mother company and hired seven more well-armed and trained security guards for guarding the college . They said that the decision was taken by the college management on orders of education department Rawalpindi.
Sources added that no legal action has been initiated against Ch Umar, college watchman, for creating panic in the college by buzzing emergency alarm on information of security guard .
