PESHAWAR - Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Sami chief Maulana Samiul Haq said that restoration of the now-defunct Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal was conditional with removal of apprehensions of the parties concerned.

The JUI-S will make a final decision about joining the MMA after having a formal approval from the party’s central executive council and proper consultation with those parties which are part of the Pakistan Defence Council, Maulana Sami said while talking to the party delegations in Akora Khattak area of district Nowshera on Sunday.

It is a must to remove reservations of all the parties willing to join the MMA , he said, adding that before joining the MMA , the JUI-S would take its central executive council and the defence council’s members on board.

To discuss a number of important issues including restoration of the MMA , the JUI-S executive council will meet today (Monday) at Akora Khattak, Maulana Sami-ul-Haq informed, adding that “It is demand of the day to welcome into the fold of the MMA all religious parties that are participating in electoral politics,”.

Without mentioning names of the JUI-F of Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Jamaat-e-Islami, both part of the federal government of the PML-N and provincial government of PTI in KP province, respectively, he demanded that “Those parties that are now either enjoying federal or provincial governments will have to quit governments prior to formal restoration of the MMA ,”.

He maintained that sailing in two boats at one-time was actually an invitation to sink. Maulana Sami-ul-Haq said that people of the country had pinned high hopes on MMA , a conglomerate of religious parties, because they were fed up of traditional politicians, adding that religious parties should not get united for ruling but working for a noble cause and an ideology.
