KARACHI - As many as eleven people were burnt when a gas pipeline exploded in Metrovil area of SITE police station on Wednesday.
According to details, the pipeline, passing through the Bab-e-Khyber locality of Baldia Town, burst with a loud bang when fire erupted in a garbage yard adjacent to it. The pedestrians standing near the site of the incident were burnt while five rickshaws were also gutted. Police said that the fire, which had erupted in a garbage yard, spread and the gas pipeline, which was already leaking, caught fire.
Police said the eleven injured people were taken to the hospital where doctors termed their condition out of danger. They were identified as two years old Nasfees Ali, two years old Hashim, 34 years old Yaseen, Kifayat, 50, Perveen 40, Shairullah, 28, Jawaid, 35, Ayub, 40, Umar 18, and Amjed 23. Police said that although it was an accident, but still it was looking for those responsible.
Soon after news of the fire spread, fire tenders were rushed to the spot while Sui Gas department timely stopped the gas supply. Fire brigade department officials said that the due to the timely action, fire was extinguished on time; otherwise it could have been more harmful.

On the other side, three people and a child were burnt when fire erupted while refuelling the generator in Lines Area within the limits of Brigade police station. Police said that during routine loadshedding family members were trying to the refuel the power generator, which resulted in the fire and the generator exploded. The incident left three woman and a child wounded.
The victims were shifted to a hospital where doctors termed their condition stable. The victims were identified as four years old Muhammad Ashiq, Anila, 35, Kusar, 20, and Naheed 24.
