Man axes local landlord to death

rawalpindi - A court of law on Wednesday has extended one day physical remand of a mason who axed a man to death at Landco on Adiala Road.

Earlier the court had granted two days physical remand of the accused Nadim (29) in Aftab Ahmed murder case.

According to details, a police team of Police Station Saddar Bairooni headed by SI Muhammad Younis has produced the accused before court of Civil Judge/Judicial Magistrate Qasim Rasool and sought three days physical remand, pleading that police have yet to complete investigation. However, the judge has rejected the plea of police and granted remand of one day. The judge also ordered police to reproduce the accused before court today (Thursday) for further hearing of the case.

Talking to The Nation, SI Muhammad Younis said court had given Nadim into police custody for one more day. He said the police had to probe the killer to ascertain as to why he killed the man and find out if there were more involved.

A mason Nadim had kidnapped Aftab Ahmed, a local landlord, and killed him with an axe apparently to grab his land and property. The killer dumped the dead body in a gutter and closed it by placing tiles to hide his crime. However, police traced the killer with help of mobile data and held him. During investigation, the killer confessed his crime.
