OKARA - As many as six armed persons abducted a labourer’s wife and his five children in Haveli Lakha on Wednesday.
Identified as Aman, Riaz, Islam, Kashif, Ikram, the abductors barged into the house of Mohammad Yasin and allegedly whisked away his wife Halima, sons Mustafa, Murtaza, Shakeel and daughters Afsran Bibi and Mariya. The criminals also took with them gold ornaments and Rs50,000 cash. Police have registered a case.
Student dies in roof collapse: A student was killed and two labourers were injured as the roof of a seminary’ room collapsed in Darul uloom Ghausia Haveli Lakha here.
The building of Madrisa Darul Aloom Ghausia Haveli Lakha Mohalla Purani Committee Wala is under construction. In the collapse, 14-year-old Ahmad Nawaz was killed and Mukhtar and Goonga were injured by coming under the debris.
One killed, two wounded by rivals:  A youth was killed and two others injured as a result of the firing conducted by their rivals in Khola area here the other day.
The victim was identified as Saleem and the injured as Iqbal and Sadiq. They were shifted to a hospital for treatment.
The cause of the incident is stated to be a dispute over the possession of a farmland. Police have started raids for the arrest of the criminals.
