Refugees heave a sigh of relief

Land owners including a number of Kashmiri refugees settled in Gujranwala Division heaved a sigh of relief after Gujranwala Commissioner Shamail Ahmed ordered swift verification of missing/lost deeds of the their property, owned by or allotted to the Kashmiris, said official sources.
“The Commissioner recently took notice of the inordinate delay by the authorities concerned in verification of the cases of missing deeds/ownership documents of the residents of districts Gujranwala, Sialkot, Gujrat, Mandi Bahauddin, Narowal and Hafizabad,” they said.
They added that the divisional commissioner had issued orders for speedy expedition of verification of the documents. “In this connection, the commissioner has assigned responsibilities to an additional commissioner-led verification committee to ensure swift disposal of such pending cases. At the same time, he also ordered for submission of a report about the pace of disposal of such cases of verification from the committee concerned.
Earlier, the applicants of such cases had to face long delay in getting the verification of such documents. Extending gratitude to the commissioner for the step, the refugees described it a great example of good governance.
